Use of BNF + BNFC content in artificial intelligence platforms and tools

BNF Partnership monitors digital transformation and developments in artificial intelligence (AI) closely and will update this statement as appropriate.

As creators of trusted evidence-based medicines information, the BNF + BNFC Partners recognise ongoing developments in AI and digital technology have potential to improve clinical decision-making, accessibility to medicines information and patient outcomes.

We work closely with health professionals to understand and meet their needs, while driving innovation and embracing emerging technologies, to improve patient safety and support the effective use of medicines.

When partnering with a third-party provider of AI tools or products, we evaluate all potential risks and ensure accuracy in the application of BNF and BNFC content and the responsible use of AI.

At the present time no organisation is authorised to use BNF and BNFC content in an AI-based tool or product and we advise health professionals and organisations to apply caution when working with a technology partner claiming they are permitted to do so.

If you wish to find out more about licensing our data for use in AI platforms and tools, please get in touch.
