Future of Herbal Medicines and Dietary Supplements

Over the past 30 years, working alongside the editorial professionals at Pharmaceutical Press, specialist editors, health professionals and scientific experts have created robust evidence-based resources on the efficacy and safety of herbal medicines and dietary supplements. We are marking this milestone by revolutionising our supporting resources within this field.

Herbal Medicines and Dietary Supplements is evolving, and as part of this process, the structure of the editorial board is currently under review. This initiative is designed to ensure the publication continues to reflect the latest developments in the field and provides the most authoritative information for our readers. We are currently in the process of defining new roles and responsibilities to further strengthen our content creation process. Dr Pam Mason, the founding authoring editor of Dietary Supplements, continues to be an integral part of the content creation process as we transition and look to the future. More details about the new editorial board structure and the individuals who will be part of this exciting transition will be announced shortly.

Governance and history

The foundations of the publication have always been rooted in pharmaceutical expertise. The original editors of Herbal Medicines were all pharmacists, a tradition that has continued through subsequent editions. To ensure a comprehensive and authoritative product, advice has also been sought from a wide range of subject matter experts. These have included individuals with in-depth knowledge of plant chemistry, the legal and regulatory aspects of herbal medicines, pharmacology, and expert science and clinical writers. Their collective knowledge has been instrumental in building the expert foundation that underpins both Herbal Medicines and Dietary Supplements.

Those that have underpinned the expert knowledge within Herbal Medicines and Dietary Supplements have included:
